Abstract:听

I鈥檒l provide an overview of some of the recent work my lab has been doing in the domain of computational cognitive neuroscience.听 We do large-scale numerical simulations of multiple brain areas, integrating biological properties and reproducing complex cognitive functions, to understand how the brain 鈥渟ecretes鈥 mind.听 Recent work shows how bidirectional connectivity can support robust visual object recognition, and how complex interactions between dopamine, basal ganglia, and prefrontal cortex support 鈥渆xecutive function鈥, e.g., our ability to stay on task and solve complex problems.听 Contributions from dynamical systems analysis as well as numerical techniques will be highlighted -- lots of interesting problems here for applied math folks to chew on!
