We are certainly in a better position than in the past few years of pandemic and economic misery, thanks to you, our cherished donors to the International Affairs Program. You continue to come through, helping to build our Global Grants scholarships endowment that has now reached over $800,000 and other funding necessary to providing opportunities for our students. Many of you participated in our mentoring program and lecture series as well. On behalf of us all in IAFS, thank you so much for your generosity. We appreciate you more than ever!

Student Success

The IAFS Program believes in providing all students with a strong interdisciplinary perspective on world issues. Through programs, scholarships and curriculum, we offer a range of experiential learning opportunities for students that further develop a globally-focused liberal arts education, from language learning to policy-making.

Donor-Supported Student Opportunities

Off-Campus Experience

The Off-Campus Experience (OCE) is a new and innovative way to give all students an opportunity for hands-on experiential learning by embedding it into our curriculum. The OCE provides our students with community engagement, practical applications, exposure to cultural diversity, and professional development.

Global Grants scholarship

Donors of the Global Grants Scholarship Fund and our IAFS Advisory Board support and send more of our majors abroad to gain a global experience. In 2022, 14 global grants were awarded to students to support their academic experiences in: Costa Rica, Denmark, France, Japan, Ireland, Mexico, Morocco, Scotland, SpainÌýand South Korea.

SEED Scholarship

Three SEED awards were given to students in 2022. SEED scholarships support students during their off-campus experience (OCE) internships and honor’s thesis research.

Oaxaca is more than I could have imagined. The city is full of life, colorÌýand culture. I took a trip to Hierve el Agua, which is a historical landmark near Oaxaca. I am so grateful for the Levine Family Global Grant for helping me gain this opportunity.

Alumni Engagement Opportunities

During a time that has frequently been filled with equal parts uncertainty and nervous excitement for the future, having the opportunity to turn to my mentor for guidance and support over the course of my senior year has been incredible. Trying to figure out the future is daunting and overwhelming at times, but I've found the most value and clarity through connecting with those around me and trying to learn about and explore as many different avenues and opportunities as I can.

Linnea Martin (IAFS ‘22) participated in the IAFS Mentorship Program and joined the Indiana Governor’s Fellowship Program after graduation.
