How to Obtain Colorado Real Estate License
To qualify for a Colorado real estate broker license you will need to have:
- 168 hours of education, or
- as a substitute, a degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in real estate – original transcripts must be provided upon application, however unofficial transcripts may be submitted if you haven't taken the broker’s exam yet.

The ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ Real Estate certificate (avaliable up to 2019) which was replaced with the Real Estate Emphasis (from 2019+) are both state approved and qualify for the 168 hours of education listed above. Please submit your transcript directly to Colorado State Department of Regulatory Agencies - Division of Real Estate. This allows you to jump straight to the Real Estate Broker License Exam. We do recommend you complete any test prep in advance of the exam.
Real Estate Broker License Exam
If you have completed the real estate certificate or a major in real estate with CU Real Estate Center, you are qualified (see above) for the broker license exam. To register for the exam, please visit . Please select your State (Colorado) and from the drop down menu select CO Broker. The CU Real Estate Center does not offer classes for the broker license nor is it a testing site for the exam.

Test Prep for Broker License
Many students find it helpful to take a test prep course before they sit for the real estate broker exam. You should have gained the most knowledge you need for the test in all of your courses at CU-Boulder, but the test prep course will help you specifically pass the exam. Many entities offer these types of crash courses. and the are both schools that students have used in the past.
