Call for Applications: 2024 AKS Hanmun Fellowship
The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) is pleased to announce the 鈥淎KS听Hanmun听(Classical Chinese) Fellowship.鈥澨
As an important part of our mission is to nurture researchers, who will contribute to the development听
and globalization of Korean studies, the academy has organized the 鈥2024 AKS听Hanmun听(Classical Chinese) Fellowship鈥
for international scholars in Korean studies.听
Those who are interested in the following programs held by the AKS,听
which is the global hub sharing Korean studies with the world, are very welcome to apply.
听
1. Programs :听Lectures, recitations, researches, and on-site tours (conducted in Korean)
听
2. Program Period
听 - 9th(Basic Course) : March 4 鈥 June 20, 2024
听 -听10th(Advanced Course) : September 2 鈥 December 19, 2024
听
3. Venue :听The Academy of Korean Studies
听
4. Eligibility
- Undergraduates students, master's and doctoral degree students majoring in Korean Studies at听
听 听 听overseas university(including candidates of master's or doctoral degrees)
听 - Korean nationals and graduates are ineligible for this program.
鈥惶鼳dvanced Korean language skills are required, as the program will be conducted in Korean.
鈥 Must have completed a basic Hanmun course to take the Advanced Course
听
5. Required Documents
1) For All Applicants:听
听 - Application form (download the attached file)
听 - Certificate of enrollment (or completion)
听 - One letter of reference
听听 鈥 Written by the applicant's academic adviser as to why the applicant needs knowledge of Chinese characters.
听 - Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) score report (if you have taken)
2) Additional Documents for Applicants of the Advanced Course (Choose one):
听 -听A copy of transcript or certificate that can prove the applicant鈥檚 completion of a Hanmun course at his/her university (or from other programs)听

听 - AKS Hanmun Fellowship Certificate of Completion听
听听鈥 All documents should be written in Korean or English. If not, attach a Korean or English translation of documents that are notarized.听
6. Application Period :听Monday,听October 16 鈥 Sunday, November 19, 2023

7. Application Method :听Online application is available on the AKS homepage

8. Notification of the Acceptance :听The result will be announced individually via e-mail on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
9. Lectures听
听听- Basic Course: Gyemongpyeon(The book of teaching children), Mencius, Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms
- Advanced Course: Analects of Confucius, Mencius, Prose Reading
10. Support
听听- Round-trip airfare (economy class) and support for living expenses (750,000 KRW per month)
听听- Accommodations (guesthouse located at the Academy of Korea Studies compound)
- Accident Insurance听
听
11. Others
听听- Submit a study report until fifteen days before the end of the fellowship period.
听听- Support will not be provided to applicants who receive funds from other sources.
