Civil Engineering
- On Friday, April 25 at the ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ, engineering students will present their capstone design projects at the annual Engineering Projects Expo. This year's event will feature projects from mechanical engineering; computer science; electrical, computer and energy engineering; biomedical engineering; and civil, environmental and architectural engineering.
- Kyri Baker, associate professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, and her colleague, Bri-Mathias Hodge, professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer & Energy Engineering, suggest that if future data centers are placed in the right location and equipped with energy storage technologies, they can run on 100 percent clean energy.
- Researchers from the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering share key lessons from post-Marshall Fire rebuilding to help Los Angeles homeowners and others navigate recovery after wildfires.
- Amy Javernick-Will, a professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, received the highest academic honor in construction engineering and management from the American Society of Civil Engineers.
- Professor Karl Linden, chair of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ's Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering Department, has been awarded the 2025 A.P. Black Research Award by AWWA for his pioneering contributions to UV water treatment technology.
- Professor Rajagopalan Balaji, a ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ professor of civil engineering and an expert in hydrology, climatology and water resources,Ìýhas been named an honorary fellow of the Indian Meteorological Society for his pioneering research on Indian monsoon variability and its impact on public health and flood preparedness.
- Since the Kiewit Design-Build Scholars Program launched at ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ in 2020, it has given engineering students an inside view of the design and construction industry. This month, Kiewit Corporation extended the program for five years with a generous $2.5 million investment, demonstrating a sustained commitment to the success of students.
