Thomas Dearing is a former PhD student in the Systems and Controls GroupÌýat ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ under the joint supervision of Marco Nicotra and Xudong Chen. HeÌýgraduated with a dual B.S. in Physics and Electrical Engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and was also a lead technical engineer in the Optical and Photonic Microsystems group at .
His research at CU boulder initially focusedÌýon Formation Control of Multi-Agent SystemsÌýas well as the classification of controllable sparse matrix spaces in linear systems. In addition, he pursuedÌýresearch with Sandia National Labs relating to the development of new communications technologies in non-conductive solid materials. After a summer internship at the , his focus shifted to optimal Spacecraft Attitude Control.
In 2020, Tommy was selected by theÌýÌýfor a three-year research scholarship. He graduated in May 2023 and, after a brief stint as a postdoc in my research group, accepted a full-time position at Ìýhere in Colorado.
