With some 32 years’ experience as an instrumental music teacher in public schools, alumnus Ed Cannava is ideally poised to serve band directors as an adjudicator, clinician, conductor and consultant.

Student leader Asha Romeo is working to create a diverse and equitable learning environment for underrepresented students at the College of Music.

The Music Education area at the College of Music routinely produces leaders in the field, the most recent of whom is Claire Glover (BME ’17), who won the 2020 CMEA Young Music Educator Award.

The Lullaby Project pairs new parents with professional musicians to create a customized lullaby for their new baby in a process that forms strong parent-child bonds and fosters early childhood development. It comes to the College of Music this spring.

This semester’s Outstanding Graduate Senior award goes to dual music education and woodwind performance major Miranda Stark. Stark reflects back on her past few years at CU and how grateful she is for all of the opportunities that have come her way.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the College of Music's third annual Distinguished Lectureship in Music, Diversity and Inclusion comes to Grusin Music Hall with a lecture by social entrepreneurs and arts leaders Aaron and Afa Dworkin from the award-winning Sphinx Organization.

College of Music Advisory Board Chair Mikhy Ritter and her husband Mike will name a music education office in honor of Mikhy’s grandmother when the new Imig Music Building opens.

These two music education buffs stayed local to bring both passion and leadership to Jeffco Public Schools and the Boulder Valley School District.
