Item Type Request FAQs
Here are some frequently asked questions about item type requests.Ìý
ÌýÌýHow they work
What is an item type?
In Campus Solutions (CU SIS), an item type refers to a unique 12-digit identifier that categorizes a specific transaction on a student’s account, defining what kind of charge or credit is being applied. Each item type represents a distinct category of financial activity on a student’s account. Item types are used to transfer financial data from the student account to the general ledger.
How do you request or modify an item type? And how long does it take to create one?
- A Scholarship Administrator should request an item type when a new scholarship has been created and needs to be awarded to a student in Campus Solutions. The speedtype associated with the fund must already exist.
- To modify an item type, submit the and indicate the type of change you need to make, including a change to the speedtype, description, credit hours, etc.
- Turnaround time for a new item type is 3 to 5 business days, however during peak times at the start of each semester, it can take 5 to 7 business days.
How does an item type apply to a student’s account?
The financial aid award associated with the item type will be applied as a credit on the student’s university tuition and fees account. The credit will reduce the balance the student owes. If the student does not owe a balance or owes less than the amount of the financial aid award, the credit balance will be released to the student by the Bursar’s Office in the form of a refund.
Will the item type affect a student’s other financial aid?
The impact of an additional item type will depend on a student’s individual financial aid status and is unique to each student. There is no way to generalize the impact. In some cases, the result may be a reduction or cancellation of another form of financial aid. Learn more on the Scholarships & Financial Aid webpage.Ìý
