The Office of Academic and Learning Innovation continues its free, public speaker series BoulderTalks: Insights from Education Innovators on Thursday, March 20, with a workshop and a presentation by guest speaker, , assistant dean for education innovation at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

 

Boosting Faculty Effectiveness and Learning Outcomes with AI Innovations Workshop

  1:30–2:30 p.m.  CASE, Center for Teaching and Learning, Room E390
Means hosts this interactive workshop where faculty members explore how generative AI can revolutionize teaching and learning, enhancing student engagement, critical thinking and personalized learning experiences.

Boosting Creativity and Driving Innovation with Gen AI Tools Presentation

About Tawnya Means

Means serves as the assistant dean for educational innovation at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She brings a wealth of experience to her teaching and seminars, contributing knowledge across diverse fields such as entrepreneurship, strategy, technology, and leadership in remote teams. Her multidisciplinary approach enriches her instructional practice, as she utilizes her expertise in course design to create engaging and inclusive learning environments that foster academic growth.

In addition to her teaching, Means has led seminars in online and blended education and provided consultations on teaching and technology. Her research interests are centered on online and blended learning, active learning, learning space design, and the use of technology in education. She is dedicated to exploring innovative methods to enhance the learning experience and ensure equitable access to digital resources.

The Ignite Social Justice & Leadership Conference is an annual one-day conference-style social justice program. Students will learn, have dialogue, network and engage in a brave space together.

The 2024 conference theme is “Redefining Justice Toward Equity and Liberation.” We will deconstruct justice through a lens of curiosity and relearn what equity and liberation can look like as a student leader. This year’s theme explores various forms of activism and liberatory practices while centering the importance of amplifying voices and enacting equitable change. By participating in the Ignite Conference, students will learn new perspectives, participate in critical conversations and be empowered to engage in activism and liberation for all.

The conference will be held in person on Saturday, Oct. 19, in the University Memorial Center (UMC). Register for the Ignite Social Justice & Leadership Conference by Oct. 13.

The Ignite Social Justice & Leadership Conference is an annual one-day conference-style social justice program. Registration is open now through Oct. 13.
