Biography for Benny Shendo

Benny Shendo, Jr. serves as associate vice chancellor for Native American Affairs, a newly created position where he will liaise between the campus and tribal communities across Colorado and the wider region to collaboratively address related issues. He is a member of the Jemez Pueblo and most recently served as a New Mexico State Senator, chairing the Senate Tax, Business and Transportation Committee.

Prior to joining ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ, Shendo was elected Chairman of the Board of First Nations Development Institute in 2016 and was the vice president for business development at NB3 Consulting. He has also served as a project director for the Native Community Foundation for New Mexico; a former New Mexico cabinet secretary for the Department of Indian Affairs; 1st and 2nd lieutenant governor, Pueblo of Jemez; and assistant dean of students at Stanford University. Shendo is a graduate of the ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ School of Business.
