The Karl Hirsch Fossil Eggshell Collection contains over 3,000 cataloged specimens. Most of the collection was collected from the Rocky Mountain Region, with extensive collections of Jurassic (Morrison Formation), Cretaceous (Cedar Mountain, Judith River, Kaiparowits, North Horn, St. Mary River, and Two Medicine Formations), Eocene (Bridger, DeBeque, Wasatch, Willwood, and Wind River Formations), and Oligocene (White River Formation) specimens.
